Balkan Fields Band

​

Using both ethnic and modern instruments and authentic vocal styling, the 6-member group Balkan Fields Band brings to life the rich diversity of dance music from the Balkans: Bulgarian, Serbian, Romani, Macedonian, and Romanian traditions. Balancing well-loved musical standards with a fresh approach to the styles, the group includes arrangements and original compositions by group members, accordion/violin duos written by Ivan Milev, and some “off-the-beaten-track” Balkan tunes which work really well for dances most Balkan dance enthusiasts already know. Balkan Fields Band has performed extensively up and down the East Coast, with appearances at Mainewoods Dance Camp, the Folk Arts Center of Boston, Balkan Cafe in Manhattan NY, New England Folk Festival (MA) and Golden Festival (Brooklyn NY) and for Balkan dance enthusiasts in Schenectady NY, Philadelphia PA, Princeton NJ, Wethersfield CT and New Haven CT.
