CSA

How our ”CSA” works:

We are different from other “CSA”s!  We think you will like this approach even more.

*No money up front: pay as you go

* Order each week from an email

list: you only buy exactly what

you and your family want that

       week  – no unwanted

produce items sulking in the frig!

* No obligation to order each week

Each week we will send out an email listing produce items for sale, including the price per item. You place an order by responding to the email. It’s best to order early in the week: we fill orders on a first-come, first-served basis, and anything that is not spoken for will quickly be sold to local markets.  Because we are a small, "boutique"-type farm, we can best serve CSA customers who order on a fairly regular and consistent basis, but if you are on vacation that week you can just ignore our email (or let us know you won’t be ordering).

CSA orders are picked up at the farm (460 Windham Road, Hampton CT).  We will list dates and times for pick-up in each weekly message, and you should include in your order the pick-up option you choose.  Prompt pick-up is essential, as we harvest everything at peak (see "Produce" below), and we have no facilities for storage.

Pricing and Payment

Our target prices are generally at about the same level as regular supermarket prices (i.e., not in-season sale prices), although there is really no comparison between what we sell and what you will find in grocery stores.  The quality of our produce more than compensates for any difference in price, and we hope you will also find it to be worth the extra "shopping trip" to pick it up.  Payment by cash or check (payable to Melinda Fields) is expected at pick-up, or payment may be mailed in advance.

Produce

We offer only fresh, high-quality produce and eggs for sale, FDA certified organically grown/produced by Baystate Organic Certifiers, and we meet or exceed all the federal standards for organically grown food.  By purchasing produce from local organic growers like us, you have the confidence of knowing where your food comes from and how it was grown.  You don't have to be concerned about chemical or genetic contamination of the food or the environment, or about the kinds of labor practices used to grow and harvest it. You also don't have to wonder how many times it was handled, crated, tossed into and out of warehouses, trucks, railroad cars, or back rooms of supermarkets, or about how long it took to get from the field to your kitchen.  Most of our produce will be delivered within 24 hours of harvesting, and all of it within a few days (excepting those items that require a "curing" period, like bulb crops, potatoes, etc.).  For specific produce we grow, browse our “Seasonal Offerings” list.

Restaurants

We grow some unusual items!

Turtle Ledge Farm would like to work with you, growing “niche/specialty” items for your restaurant. Because we are small-scale, we like growing items other growers sometimes don’t provide: we may be able to “fill in the gaps” left by your larger-scale suppliers.

Turtle Ledge Farm has been a long-time supplier to the Willimantic Food Co-op and recently contributed to the “Last Green Valley” banquet, fall 2015.
